A Pictorial Timeline of the Life of Alice Davey Calhoun Lamb

Baby Alice - 1925 Alice Davey Calhoun was born on May 25, 1925, to Oscar Curtis and Jennie Arcadie Holmes Calhoun in Dothan, Alabama. She was the baby of her family with an older sister, Lonnie Belle, and an older brother James Howard.
Alice graduated in 1943 as the salutatorian of her class having reached the distinction of attending all of her public school classes without one absence or ever being tardy. (When the principal told her that she was tied for valedictorian, she declined, telling him that the other girl deserved it more.) She barley made it though her salutatory speech and the graduation ceremony, after which she was rushed to the hospital because of appendicitis. Alice in Cap and Gown - 1943
Alice and Charles - 1950s In 1947, Alice gave birth to her only child, a son, Charles Edward, with her husband, James Edward Lamb, of Marianna, Florida. While Edward was in the Air Force in the early 1950s, Alice and Charles spent time in Dothan with her family.
